Harrah's Hotel Reno
New Recruits Tryout
for the Reno 911 force...
In this episode of Reno 911,
new recruits compete to be the newest member of the Reno
911 police force. The show opens with shots of some
of Reno's finest pawn shops, the Cal-Neva hotel, and the
downtown Reno skyline. Dingle heads out to pick
up some new Ostrich skin Western wear to add to his wardrobe.
But when Dingle returns to his bike - he finds it "poled"
with the bicycle frame embedded on a 20 foot light pole.
Dingle's astounded look is priceless to see!
Afterwards, the new recruits
are reviewed in an army-style lineup. The cute female
recruit "Sullivan" takes down a criminal by
running after his bicycle and engaging in a strenuous
wrestling match on the street. The Reno deputies
are astounded at her physical prowess and willingness
to put herself on the line.
A Southwest airlines jet touches down
in Reno to start the next sequence of hilarious events.
A few Jehovah's witnesses are preaching in Reno neighborhoods.
When the Reno cops ask them for their permit to sell door-to-door
- they refer the cop to the special Jehovah's witness
"Thor". Thor - a quite muscular fellow
- puts the deputies in a headlock and begins explaining
the lord's teachings. The permit is not mentioned
again.
The Reno sheriff spends a few minutes
thinking about the need for new recruits. The
current force are "fudge ups" in a "fudge
packing district". He then
describes a recipe with many ingridients that "makes
nothing". These difficult comments are followed
by scenes of the Reno train trench and the Golden Phoenix
hotel.
A promising new recruit "Reese"
helps to handle a potential suicide jumper atop a Reno
hotel parking lot. Reese advises the jumper to just
"believe in yourself". When the deputies
hear a struggle on the roof (they are too lazy to go up)
- they run up with guns drawn. The Reno deputies
find Reese sitting on the roof giving some impromptu counseling
to the suicide jumper. Reese gets a little testy
at the other deputies and tells not to "invade their
space."
The next scenes are preceded by rapid
shots of the Reno
/ Tahoe International Airport; the Reno downtown arch,
and the Reno
Circus-Circus hotel. The wrestling recruit "Sullivan"
climbs up on a roof to nab a purse snatcher. Again
- the other deputies remain on the ground - flabbergasted
at the new recruits go-getter attitudes.
A bank robbery investigation scene
is preceded by rapid cut shots of Harrah's
Reno hotel, the Reno
Hilton, the Reno spaghetti bowl highway intersection,
and Washoe
Medical Center (one of two main Reno hospitals).
Out at a squalid trailer with kids running around, the
deputies interrogate a potential bank robbery suspect
known as "frisbee". The bank robbery was
done with a crossbow, and they are looking for the blue
ink from the bank bag. There are many similarities
of Frisbee and the bank robber including a pregnant &
underage getaway driver (Frisbee's wife) and 6 kids in
the back of a pickup. The deputies are about to
leave when Frisbee shows his hands to be void of dye --
but when his kid runs out with a crossbow, covered in
blue dye -- another Reno case is cracked!
Another scene of Harrah's
Reno hotel precedes recruit Reese practicing tai-chi
in the parking lot. When another deputy ridicules
his tai-chi-- Reese rapidly sucker punches him in the
neck and takes him down. The women deputies are
very enamored of Reese, and describe him as a "grape"
that they would like to suck the love juice out of....
The women deputies gossip about Reese who is clearly their
favorite of the potential new recruits.
In perhaps the most bizarre scene of
a wild show, Deputy Weigel pays a conjugal visit to her
lover at the Nevada State prison. The stark furnishings
of the prison trailer for conjugal visits is offset by
the wild S&M leather outfits for Weigel and her lover.
They attempt to play out a lengthy "sexy"? scenario
where they work in a corporation - but it goes nowhere,
and the limited-time conjugal visit ends with no consummation.
In the show's finale of this episode,
the deputies meet in the conference room for the controversial
announcement of the new deputy. One recruit is joining
the National Guard; and Sullivan is entering the Ultimate
Fighting Championship. Dingle makes clear that he
is the one and only vote for the new deputy and that the
other deputies votes "just don't count".
Kimball - the tough Southern cop is chosen as the new
recruit. In her intro speech she describes herself
as "woman on the outside, but inside I'm pudding..."
Dingle drags her off lectern and the episode ends.
